On Writing with Fountain Pens
There’s something tangible about writing with pen on paper. We create an artifact in the process.
When we write on computers, we are constantly in the draft mode—cut, copy and paste. Any addition or subtraction is mere act of readjustment. However, when you write with pens on paper, it brings a different kind of rigor. It forces us to slow down, visualize and compose the story before continuing it on paper. The process is meditating in its own terms.
As I’m writing this on paper, with a fountain pen, I also feel a gratifying physical exhaustion.
If you’re in Bangalore, and interested in fountain pens, you should check out a store called R.V. Nadam Pen Store in Chickpete (next to Vijya Lakshmi Theatre).
